For My Sake …

This papercut is based on the same phrase as a papercut from earlier this summer. Both are inspired by a Hasidic teaching, that all persons should have two pieces of paper, one in each pocket. On one is written “On my behalf was the whole world created” (Mishnah of Sanhedrin 4:5) and on the other “I am but dust and ashes.” (Gen. 18:2). The idea here was to put the first sentence above the earth, trees, and sky, the the second phrase underneath the earth, shown here in strata. Click here for the complete image.
