At the Jewish Museum of Vienna

Oct 22, 2025 – Apr 26, 2026

In summer 2024, a curator at the Jewish Museum of Vienna emailed me to say that they were working on planning an exhibition on Jews and race for the fall of 2025, and would like to display one of my pieces of art in it. He wrote “During our research, we came across your papercut “Black Lives Matter wrapped in a tallit”. The piece has really impressed us and we would love to have your work be a part of our exhibition and be able to put the original papercut on display at the Jewish Museum in Vienna.”

I of course said yes! After some back-and-forth about logistics, the museum further decided that they’d like to acquire a larger, newly hand-cut version of the art for their permanent collection.

The exhibit information is online here:
Schwarze Juden, Weiße Juden? Über Hautfarben und Vorurteile
(I’d translate that as “Black Jews, White Jews? About skin color and prejudice.”)

(I now wish that I had thought to suggest that they consider displaying some of my other work that addresses racism within a Jewish lens, especially “White Silence is Violence” and “Deep Pit.” I may have simply been too overwhelmed at being asked for my artwork in the first place to think beyond that!)

Opening Reception: Oct 21, 6:30pm.
