I created this two-layer papercut inspired by the Alhambra, in Granada, Spain, for an artist mentor of mine.
The Hebrew text is from a poem by Judah Halevi called “Lord, where shall I find You”; the first two lines of the poem, and the first two lines of the fourth stanza. Peter Cole translates it like this:
Where, Lord, will I find you:
your place is high and obscured.
And where won’t I find you:
your glory fills the world.
I sought your nearness.
With all my heart I called you.
And in my going out to meet you,
I found you coming toward me.
