The Hebrew is from Psalm 13, verse 6, and is usually translated as “I will sing unto G!d, because G!d has dealt bountifully with me.” However, a few of the words have alternate meanings, so the sentence could accurately be translated as “I will sing unto G!d, because a camel is on me.”
When I came across this, I was so entertained! My amusement lasted through the entire papercut-planning process and beyond.
I felt from the beginning that this was a medieval-feeling prayer (regardless of translation) and I kept thinking about Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I therefore went with a Medieval design. I did research on Medieval manuscripts. The camel, the person, the letters, and all of the decorations are Medieval-inspired.
