Earlier this year, at my synagogue, Rabbi Emma Kippley-Ogman taught a song called “Roll The Stone Away” by Rabbi Minna Bromberg. I was quite taken with it and lived my life with this song in my head for months. Half of it came out through my fingers into this papercut. Perhaps I will do a companion piece with the rest of the song some day.
All the whale wants is to rise
All the deep wants is to cry out to the deep
And what are we, what are we in this place?
Ours is but to roll the stone away.
