For 26 years of teaching Advanced Torah

This piece was a collaboration with Noam Sienna, and was commissioned as a gift for Rabbi Elyse Goldstein and Baruch Sienna by the Advanced Torah class they taught for 26 years.

The text in the middle is Deuteronomy 31:21: “Assemble the people, men, women, and little ones, and the sojourner within your towns, that they may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God, and be careful to do all the words of this law.”

The text around the outside is Pirkei Avot 5:22: “Ben Bag Bag used to say, “Turn it, and turn it, for everything is in it. Reflect on it and grow old and gray with it. Don’t turn from it, for nothing is better than it.”

I designed and cut the papercut; Noam chose the text and did all of the calligraphy and painting; 16 significant moments from Torah.

Here’s a video of the cutting process.
